Where to Begin

Planning a funeral can be overwhelming, but you are not alone in this. We’re here to support you throughout this journey and make this process one of love, healing, and life celebration. Below is some information to help you get started, but you can contact us at any time if you need help.

When you first begin the process of designing a funeral, the decisions you will face might seem overwhelming at first. We are here to help you tackle the choices one by one and make the journey one of love, healing, and life celebration. The process can be broken down into two stages: decisions regarding the service and how you'd like to honor your loved one's life, and decisions regarding how you'd like to care for your loved one's physical remains.

Designing a Service

Whether it is formal or informal, traditional or offbeat, a funeral or memorial service provides an opportunity for family and friends to gather and support one another after a death. A service can take place in any setting - at one of our chapels, your church, your home, or even outdoors. You can incorporate music, poetry, or art in the celebration as well. There are endless possibilities for what the service can be, and we are honored to go above and beyond in our duty to meet your personalized and specific requests.

Many families choose to have a time of visitation or receiving of friends and family. Some do this the day or evening before the service, while others choose to do everything in one day. This time allows others to share with and support the family. It is a time for laughter, stories, and tears.

Our staff is experienced in understanding and graciously accommodating the needs of all beliefs, faiths, traditions, and relationships. Our facilities allow us to accommodate most any request. We are here to answer your questions and guide you through the decisions you will need to make. We will work with you to plan the most meaningful and fitting way to honor your loved one.

Meaningful Funerals

Meaningful Funerals was created to provide the information and insights necessary to help families create meaningful funeral experiences that both honor the lives of their loved ones and start them on the path to healing from their losses. Central to accomplishing these goals is to understand the important role that a funeral home plays in this process and how to work with your chosen funeral professional to create a funeral that honors the wishes and attends to the needs of your family during this most difficult time.

This website is a starting place, designed to provide you with accurate and timely information to plan and carry out a funeral that is meaningful to you and your family, friends and relatives.

Caring for a Loved One's Physical Remains

As the initial decisions begin to get made, another component is information. Our staff will spend time with you gathering what we need for the obituary and the death certificate. You can also begin the process online through our preplanning section.

Once you have chosen how you would like to celebrate your loved one's life journey, the next decision is how you would like to care for their physical remains. This can be a difficult and emotional choice for you and your family, and we will provide you with the information you need as you consider your options. Once you have chosen between burial and cremation, there are a few additional decisions you will face:

  • For a burial, you will need to select a casket and a cemetery, and choose between a ground burial and entombment in a mausoleum.
  • For cremation, you will need to select a cremation container and an urn and choose whether to keep, bury, or scatter the ashes.

No matter which path you decide to take, we will be there to support and assist you in exploring your options, while helping you make an informed decision.
